Family Programs at Vail Valley Medical Center

Breastfeeding Class is designed to help pregnant women learn the techniques and possible challenges of breastfeeding. Topics include the benefits of breastfeeding, positioning and latch-on, establishing your milk supply, how to know if baby is getting enough, pumping and storing breast milk and much more.

I Love My Sibling Class. Prepare your child for the arrival of their new brother or sister! This class is designed to assist your children and their family for the upcoming changes. This 60-minute session is filled with fun activities and discussions to let kids feel good about being a big sister or brother. Children will have a chance to tour where their sibling will be born, meet the nurses, practice holding a doll and learn how they can help with a new baby.

Relaxation and Comfort Measures Class. This seminar is designed to help couples learn how relaxation and comfort measures can benefit them during labor. Breathing, imagery and deep relaxation techniques are taught. Couples will learn about aromatherapy, herbs, music, positions and creating a personal “comfort zone” in their hospital room. A tour of the birthing room is included. A certified doula and childbirth instructor teach the class.
